The Day-To-Day Activities

  • Overall Merchandising Strategy
    • Developing and implementing comprehensive merchandising strategies to maximize sales, profitability, and brand image across all retail stores.
  • Product Assortment Planning (in collaboration with other departments):
    • While not directly responsible for buying, they would likely collaborate with procurement/buying teams to ensure the right products are available to support merchandising initiatives.
    • Inventory & Stock Management Oversight (in collaboration with Warehouse & Logistic Manager): Ensuring optimal stock levels are maintained for visual merchandising purposes and sales, working closely with the Warehouse & Logistic Manager to facilitate product flow.
  • Sales Performance Analysis:
    • Analysing sales data and trends to identify merchandising opportunities and make data-driven decisions to improve product performance.
  • Team Leadership & Management:
    • Leading and managing the Planogram & Visual Merchandiser team, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Budget Management:
    • Managing the budget allocated for merchandising activities, including fixtures, displays, and visual merchandising materials.
  • Market Research & Competitor Analysis:
    • Staying updated on market trends, competitor activities, and consumer preferences to inform merchandising strategies.
  • Collaboration with Marketing:
    • Working closely with marketing teams to align merchandising efforts with promotional campaigns and branding initiatives.

About You

  • Candidate must possess at least a Degree in Business, Marketing, Retail Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in retail merchandising, with at least 2-3 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful merchandising strategies that drive sales and improve profitability.
  • Strong understanding of retail operations, inventory management principles, and visual merchandising best practices.
  • Experience with sales data analysis and interpretation to identify trends and inform strategic decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop a team.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in merchandising software, planogram tools, and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment and adapt to changing trends and priorities.
