Job Summary
To provide overall direction in the design, development, implementation and maintenance of large-scale Business Intelligence solutions to meet U Mobile's strategic Information provision, management and decision support requirements.

Job Responsibilities

Team Management
• KPI (Key Performance Index) setting for direct reports, monitor and periodic review to assure KPI met
• Overseeing the management of the IT security department, giving leadership to the team and developing staff
• Team learning and knowledge sharing within team; appropriate strategic timing for people up-skilling in line with newly developed technologies and strategic practices
• Coaching and guidance of subordinates.
• Recruit, develop and retain people with outstanding skills, qualifications and potential.
• Performance management and identification of training needs.
• Accountable for a customer centric culture and shift to legendary service provision.

Budget
• Assist in the forecasting, planning and development of the portfolio’s budget and business plans for IS
• Manage and optimise departmental budget, ensuring all expenditure is in line with the agreed budgets.
• Ensure that Yearly CAPEX Plans are put in place and that each team member provides proper input and information into these
• Support the creation of the business case for initiatives and projects in functional areas

Strategic Input
• Constantly monitor data science trends, emerging tools and technologies to continually improving frameworks, processes and best practices for predictive models
• Develop goals, strategies, and plans needed to achieve the portfolios vision and build the capabilities to enable optimal delivery with input from relevant stakeholders.
• Align planning against the strategic intent of the company with agreed business outcomes within the portfolio, relevant IT Architecture Enterprise principles, key approved decisions and enterprise wide programs.
• Recommend strategic business opportunities to deliver medium to long-term benefit and growth to the organisation and its customers.
• Translate the strategic vision into intelligence requirements and drive the fulfilment of these technical requirements.
• Analyse business change drivers to determine business, information, solution and information technology requirements.
• Investigate strategic IT trends (including initiating and executing relevant proof of concepts) and provides feedback regarding the impact and alignment required.

Informating the Business
• Ensure that data design and systems are able to support increase and revenue though sales pipeline graphs and analysis
• Support the business with customer Value Management by developing models to analyse customer behavior in order to upsell and cross-sell.
• Develop and implement an end-user self-service reporting & analytics strategy (data models, reporting tools, training, testing & review, and retirement of abandoned reports)
• Develop a governance model for analytics and reporting to drive standards and standardization in decision making tools and reporting
• Analyze complex data systems and document data elements, data flow, relationships and dependencies
• Build and manage data sets for reporting integration, dashboards, data visualization, data mining, and predictive analytics
• Constantly monitor data science trends, emerging tools and technologies to continually improving frameworks, processes and best practices for predictive models

Project Delivery
• Develop and drive the execution of agreed projects
• Drive the implementation, tracking, monitoring and compliance of Projects
• Contract management in line with Procurement Policies
• Co-ordinate project reporting
• Ensure effective implementation of the integrated project management model
• Risk management

Business Analysis
• Perform Business Analysis MTN SA Business Analysis in line with the methodology and guidelines
• Identify ways to fine tune policies, processes and systems in line with changing work practices
• Determine, document, and review requirements for projects within the scope of the value stream or impacting processes and systems
• Design, analyse and document workflow and make appropriate recommendations that will positively impact operational effectiveness
• Identify Business Improvement and Optimisation opportunities that will result in improvement of process performance
• Ensure that benchmarking is conducted with other companies and organizations within and outside the industry.
• Construct business cases for initiations proposed by the business. Research and consider best practice, local conditions, trends, as well as competitor activity
• Identify and implement innovative ways to use minimum resources to achieve maximum outputs

Partners And Vendors Management
• Manage and monitoring of KPIs to ensure all IT partners’ deliveries are done accordance to contract SLA as well as T&C
• Ensure that all Senior team members are engaging in Vendor Relations and find ways to Leverage the vendor as much as possible in order to manage costs and that vendors provide Quarterly reporting
• Ensure that all Senior team members are involved in Contract ownership and that they update a central location with information on what the vendor supplies and requirements on amendments needed (or on new contract)

Stakeholders Management
• Manage collaboration and relationship between different departments in delivering solutions to meet customers’ business needs
• Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
• Architecture and application development teams

Timely Reporting And Analysis
• Periodic reporting of project status and escalation of issues as and when required
• Conduct project post mortems to identify successful project elements and improvement areas
• Quarterly reporting on security posture and incidents for Audit committee
• Responsible for reporting all Cyber Security related incidents

Others
• Undertake any other duties and functions that are assigned by the CIO

Job Requirements

  • Degree in Computer Science / Information Systems / Electrical & Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years in a similar position in Telecommunication, Information or Communications Technology (ICT).Proven track record of technical customer solution delivery.
  • Digital leadership skills – capable of empowering and leading an IT team to meet business and IT security goals.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-moving IT landscape and keep pace with the latest thinking and new security technologies.
  • A passion for technology and security safeguarding with a desire to deliver.
