Head of Consumer & Digital Solutions

Job Summary
Lead the team that in conjunction with the business the team jointly owns the accountability to ensure the business deliver of their objectives. Designing solutions and delivering while identifying, planning & implementing the longer-term functionalities or systems to meet future requirements.

Job Responsibilities

Strategic
• Develop goals, strategies, and plans needed to achieve the portfolios vision and build the capabilities to enable optimal delivery with input from relevant stakeholders.
• Constantly monitor IT and relevant business trends, emerging tools and technologies to continually improve processes, delivery, technical architecture and best practices
• Align planning against the strategic intent of the company with agreed business outcomes within the portfolio, relevant IT Architecture.
• Recommend strategic business opportunities to deliver medium to long-term benefit and growth to the organisation and its customers.
• Translate the strategic vision into requirements and drive the fulfilment of these technical requirements.
• Analyse business change drivers to determine business, solution and information technology requirements.
• Identifying and implementing technology trends that will be able to support the future success of the business
• Provide input to the strategic direction of technology investments to assist in the development of the enterprise architecture and maximise the return on technology investment
• Work with strategic partners to workshop possible collaborations to take new innovative ideas to market.

Solution Engineering
• Identify Business Improvement and Optimisation opportunities that will result in improvement delivery processes and customer facing processes.
• To be able to effectively workshop solutions with the business areas and external partners to determine feasibility or detail the design.
• Understand the underlying architecture and capabilities to effectively solution new business requirements
• Define and design technology solutions to enable the business in meeting their business objectives.
• Determine, document, and review requirements for projects within the scope of the value stream or impacting processes and systems
• Understanding the use cases (and/or user stories) in order to oversee the design of the architecture for the products to be built;
• Collaborating with the appropriate functions and users to identify & evaluate technology platforms for delivering the company’s products and internal services

Long-term Improvement Plans
• Develop IT roadmaps to support the business areas' long-term objectives
• Together with the Architecture team ensure these roadmaps are translated into longer-term architectural plans
• Create, implement and maintain continuous improvement plans for GTM delivery

Stakeholder management
• Build and maintain strong, long-lasting client relationships
• Develop trusted advisor relationships with key accounts, customer stakeholders and executive sponsors
• Manage collaboration and relationships between different departments in delivering solutions to meet customers' business needs
• Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
• Clearly communicate the progress of monthly/quarterly initiatives to internal and external stakeholders
• Articulating to colleagues and user communities, the company’s technological vision, opportunities, and challenges

Project Delivery
• Work effectively with Product Managers and Product Owners to ensure delivery against agreed priorities;
• Overall responsibility for planning, executing, tracking and managing cost, schedule, and scope for all projects in the portfolio.
• Implement mechanisms to monitor, manage and provide progress on all software development activities
• Lead and manage the IT teams to deliver solutions that meet the needs of users to the relevant business areas
• Conduct project post mortems to identify successful project elements and improvement areas
• Ensure continuous improvement of delivery is achieved through ongoing process improvement.
• Direct project portfolio activities, conduct reviews, and use strong technical and business acumen to manage risk and address escalated impediments.

Budget
• Assist in the forecasting, planning and development of the portfolio’s budget and business plans for IS
• Manage and optimize the departmental budget, ensuring all expenditure is in line with the agreed budgets, including projects.
• Ensure that Yearly CAPEX Plans are put in place and that each team member provides proper input and information into these based on the divisional roadmaps.
• Support the creation of the business case for initiatives and projects in functional areas

Technical Leadership
• Being an active member of the IT senior management team by continuously contributing to leadership topics and longer-term technical plans ensuring that IS is continuously improving and exceeding the expectations of the business.
• As necessary, participate in and coordinate activities in external consortia and expert groups in support of the company’s objectives.
• Undertake additional tasks and responsibilities as may be reasonably expected of the role and as necessary in order to achieve the objectives of the company.

Staffing
• Ensure that the skills and experience of the teams are consistent with its scientific, technological and business needs for providing quality in present and future services
• Encourage staff to represent UM at conferences and meetings to continuously grow the reputation and develop their skills.
• Establish career objectives and mentor staff to develop staff and future leaders.
• Provide support for all staff in keeping with the UM Values.

Job Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science / Information Systems / Electrical & Electronic Engineering or equivalent
• Minimum 8 years in a similar position in Telecommunication, Information, or Communications Technology (ICT). Proven track record of technical customer solution delivery.
• Digital leadership skills – capable of empowering and leading an IT team to meet business and IT security goals
• Ability to adapt to a fast-moving IT landscape and keep pace with the latest thinking and new security technologies
• A passion for technology and security safeguarding with a desire to deliver
• Thrives on change, showing an impressive ability to drive the IT security strategy forward
• Analytical mind capable of managing numerous information sources and providing data analysis reports to senior management
• Strong customer focus – able to meet the demands of internal and external customers
• Excellent communication skills – providing verbal and written communication that is outstanding to both direct reports and senior management as well as other stakeholders
