Duties & Responsibilities

1. Cost Control and Optimization:
• Implement financial evaluation controls and procedures to ensure effective Capex and Opex management within the company.
• Analyse cost structures, cost drivers, and cost allocation methodologies to optimize operational efficiency and reduce unnecessary expenditures.
• Identify and evaluate potential risks and opportunities related to Capex and Opex spending, providing recommendations for risk mitigation and cost control.

2. Business Partnership:
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams within Network and ISD, to provide financial guidance and support in Capex and Opex investment decision-making processes.
• Serve as a financial advisor to stakeholders, and conduct in-depth financial assessment to evaluate the financial feasibility of Capex and/or Opex investment proposals and conducting financial assessment on any adhoc projects, including industrywide initiatives.
• Responsible for the subsequent follow-up on post-investments performance, where applicable, to ensure tracking of actual project benefits relative to project spending, collaborate with stakeholders on findings and provide recommendations where relevant.
• Foster strong working relationships with key stakeholders, promoting a culture of financial accountability and cost efficiency mindset within the organization.

3. Budgeting and Forecasting:
• Participate in the annual budget and quarterly forecasting processes by collaborating with stakeholders to provide Capex and/or Opex inputs and align financial targets with strategic objectives.
• Coordinate with Network and ISD stakeholders to develop accurate and realistic forecasts, adjusting projections based on changing business conditions in the market.
• Review tracking of actual spending against budgeted amounts and identify improvement areas and cost-saving opportunities.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or a related field. Bachelor’s degree in engineering majoring Telecommunication is a plus.
  • Has about 6-8 years of experience in financial planning, budgeting, and analysis, preferably in a similar role focused on Capex and Opex planning and control within the telecommunications industry.
  • Strong understanding of the telecommunications industry in Malaysia, including knowledge of industry-specific regulations, market dynamics, and competitive landscape.
  • Proficient in financial modelling, forecasting, and data analysis using spreadsheet software and ERP financial systems.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards, specifically as they relate to the telecommunications sector in Malaysia.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey financial concepts to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and build relationships across different teams and levels of the organization within the organization.
  • A fast learner, independent and ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines.
